Equitable Life's asset manager, (EUTM) has paid GB[pound] 985,000 in back tax, interest and fines to the Inland Revenue for failing to pay the correct tax on its International Growth Trust and its Far Eastern Trust from June 1988 to June 1998. Also the EUTM was fined GB[pound] 80,000 by IMRO, the city watchdog, for not abiding by its regulations, along with a GB[pound] 23,000 for a disciplinary hearing. Shop around for the good deals
Article Abstract:
It has become extremely easy to invest in unit trusts in the UK, where there are now more than 1,600 unit trusts available. It is common for people to choose to invest a lump sum in a unit trust. When taking this approach, it is important to find out what charges may apply. Those who do not have a lump sum to invest can enter a unit sum scheme through a regular savings option. This approach has the advantage of allowing cautious investors to avoid taking unnecessary risks.

Riding the electronic crest of a financial wave
Article Abstract:
CRESTCo Chief Executive Iain Saville believes that the company's CREST electronic settlements system for corporate securities is the most capable real time settlements system in the world. He hopes to create closer links with other leading European settlement systems, but recognizes that this will be challenging. He believes that, in the long term, there will be a single hub for Europe. He feels that CRESTCo's management style is very open and consultative.
